Nelle mie escursioni per catalogare i vari abitanti, le civiltà, e la fauna del nostro mondo, ho viaggiato in lungo e in largo, ma mai prima d'ora sono stato colpito con tanto smarrimento come quando fui ai piedi dei bastioni della antica fortezza di Bastion's Keep. Sono venuto per vedere di persona i barbari, i quasi leggendari, immensi, inesorabili, la furia combattiva a due mani, nella loro abitazione sul loro Sacro Monte Arreat.
Invece, sto qui a guardare il monte che è stato fatto a pezzi da una straordinaria forza. La vista, devo confessare, è incomprensibile. Eppure, ciò che vedo davanti a me non può essere negato.
Invece sono qui a fissare un monte dilaniato da qualche oscura potenza. Questa visione, devo confessare, è senza senso. Eppure, ciò che ho davanti a me non può essere negato.
Cosa è veramente è successo qui? Dove sono quegli antichi e maestosi guerrieri?
Anche se una volta venivano considerati come come semplici, sanguinari invasori, la lunga e nobile storia di questo orgoglioso popolo è ora conosciuta con esattezza. E a proposito di inganni, la più grande tragedia è proprio qui, coloro che conoscono la nobiltà dei barbari ricorderanno anche quella che loro chiamano "sorveglianza", il concetto che si pone nel cuore della loro cultura. I barbari chiamano così il loro giuramento di proteggere il Monte Arreat e il misterioso oggetto al suo interno.
| Credono che, se essi falliranno al loro dovere di proteggere il grande monte, o se non saranno sepolti ai piedi del suo pendio, verrà loro negata la vera morte del guerriero, e i loro spiriti vagheranno sulla terra senza onore per tutta l'eternità.
|  Se ci sono dei barbari lasciati vivi, essi devono essere veramente senza speranza. Forse è questa l'origine delle voci che parlano di esseri mostruose somiglianti a barbari in termini di dimensioni e ferocia, ma che sono in realtà niente di più che irrazionali, inumane bestie. Può la distruzione non solo della loro casa, ma anche delle loro credenze, aver portato questa magnifica razza effettivamente così in basso? | | |
